About Comptogether
Hello, I'm Tracey Goulding and welcome to CompTogether.
My idea for this website came after I'd finished my ITEC massage qualification in West London and my regular therapist, who I swapped treatments with, decided to return to Australia. I desperately missed my massage treatments! I suffer from chronic injuries due to earlier car and bicycle accidents, and so massage swaps not only help improve my technique, it also helps me cope with joint and muscular aches and pains. But when you are no longer studying, finding a swap partner is difficult, and so I thought what better place to have such a directory than on the internet. The snag was, I couldn't find one, and so I decided to build my own.
The site came together due to voluntary help from therapists, Louise and Matt, and others who have helped publicise the site, and Simon's (CBCOM) technical know-how.
The Swap Directory was born in the late spring of 2003 after much ground work. It has grown and other services and information added. It's been an interesting journey so far, learning HTML for web design has been particularly eventful! Needless to say I now have regular swap partners, and it's certainly been worth the effort.
I hope you enjoy the site and you find it a great place to be.
How is Comptogether funded?
Up until August 2007 the site relied on free hosting from Justbiz.co.uk, technical help from Simon (CBCOM) and donations given by members. I worked in my free time to develop and run the site.
As the site has grown, it has taken up more of my time to manage it, and has required a more sophisticated approach to maintain its upkeep. While keeping the principal of running a high quality, and reliable Swap service for therapists, which remains free, I have decided to charge for the more commercial services on the site.
This way I can ensure all the services are of a high standard, and most importantly, still maintain the Swap Directory for all to benefit. My aim is to create a self-financing site. Join today and support us.
